[LOG] Tachibana An & Kamio Akira

Who: Tachibana An Kamio Akira
When: End of march
What: An needs some help moving and Kamio comes to assist.
Rating: PG

Left to his own devices, Kamio was an up with the sun sort of guy. However, having been up late carting drunk people to and fro and generally making pretty sweet money, he slept in later than intended.

Around ten, he sprung up for the help An-chan alarm that he had set on his phone. He all but flew to his small closet, nabbed a pair of black track pants and the blue t-shirt that both An and Kite seemed to approve of, and ran down the hall for the fastest shower and tooth brushing of all time.

Less than ten minutes, Kamio realized victoriously as he got outside. And he had even remembered to put on deodorant! That put an extra spring in Kamio’s step on the swift route to the Tachibana family home.

“Almost there,” he texted An-chan, in case she needed a minute.

An had found herself up around nine and rummaging for extra boxes. She hadn't expected to need more than what she had bought till she started to clean out her closet and realized that it seems that she more things than she would actually be able to take. Kamio was coming soon to help her anyways so maybe they could both tackle that.

Realizing that staring at her closet would not make it any less dense of clothes she decided to take a break and play with Gokutora since she decided he would need to spoil him as much as she could before she moved.

Sitting on the porch she scratched at the elderly dogs stomach as her phone ping’d. It was Kamio and he was close. An sent him a victory sign emoji and continued on with her cuddly dog.

When Kamio jogged up to the metal wrought gate, he saw An-chan doting on Gokutora. The moment he saw her, a smile took over his entire face. While switching his headphones to off, he waved energetically. “Good morning.”

Gokutora as he could pulled his head out of An’s lap when he heard the sound of the gate moving and let out a low bark but soon wagged his stubby tail when he recognized that it was Kamio.

“ Morning, you got here pretty fast.” An said with her own smile. Getting up, she wiped her leggings with a hand. There may have been some slobber on them. “ I’m really happy you came, I was already thinking about just staying here with my things.”

“Hey, Gokutora,” Kamio squatted to give the dog a greeting rub, which was returned with more grunting and slobber than the redhead could have anticipated. But he laughed and looked up at An-chan through his bands, “I mean, you could. Or we can spend a couple of hours getting things together and you’ll have your own place in no time.”

An laughed lightly, “ I mean.. that could work toi.” Petting Gokutora on last time she motioned Kamio inside, “ Everyone’s out at the moment but I’m sure Mama will want you to stay for lunch.” Mother Banana happened to very fond of all of the Fudomine boys.

Slippers on, they made their way towards her room. Once very decorated there wasn’t much left on her walls beside a corkboard filled to the brim with photos and colorful memories. “ I'm still thinking about maybe buying a tiny table for the room, I’d love for you guys to come over.” She was thinking about throwing a small house warming party as a thank you to everyone who was going to help her but, she was pretty sure she couldn't manage to fit that many people in her new space.

Kamio took An to the small gun show with a flex of his wire-muscled arm and echoed An’s laughter with his own, “Isn’t that what I’m here for?”

After using his shirt to clean up the worst of Gokutora’s drool, Kamio followed An into the familiar home and then the familiar room. Somehow the space made him feel comfortable and nervous at the same time. An-chan might be his good friend, but he was still in a girl’s room.

“You’ll see me and Shinji table or not but...I dunno…” he looked around at all of An’s things. “Maybe you should consider a chest instead of a table. Or wait until you’ve placed everything else first.”

An gave him a playful pout as she opened a drawer and scooped out a handful of shirts before placing them on her bed. “ I’ll have you know that it wasn’t this bad until I actually started taking stuff out. “ Things had a way of hiding in her room. “ I’ll be taking my bookshelf buying a few organizers but I think I have a few things to give away.”

Kamio nodded thoughtfully, trying to avoid the sheer cuteness of An-chan’s pout. It wasn’t fair to his head or heart.

“Then we could start with putting those things aside? Want me to see if I can find a bag?”

At the questions of bags , she went over to her desk and pulled up a roll of bags that she had bought, “ I got you covered.” She smiled and handed him the roll. Staring back at her dreaded closet she let out another sigh. “You think Shinji-kun’s sisters might want some of my old clothes? I mean I plan on donating anything I don’t want anyways.”

“All right!” Kamio whipped a bag out of the bunch and flapped it around noisily. “So this one is for stuff you don’t want.”

Kamio paused mid-bag display to examine An. His wide cobalt eyes narrowed with the thoughtful line of his lips. “I’m really not sure what they like. Maybe set aside anything that you can see one of them wearing?”

“Great, hopefully I don’t have to need more than two of those bags for clothes.” An was pretty sure she had clothes back from when she was barely a teenager.

Having Kamio’s answer she thought for a moment. “ I might as well just put everything in and they can pick and choose.” She said as she leaned down slightly to tie her hair up in a small pony tail, it was at least long enough for that. She’d make sure to message Shinji and see if it was alright.

“Is there anything you’d like? I have a few skirts I could offer.” She teased as she pulled out an assortment of different colored skirts and shorts.

Ponytail An-chan was really cute too. Unfair!

He took the things that An held out to him and put them in the giveaway bag as nicely as he could. “Uhh…” Kamio scratched at his hair. “I think they’ll look better on Shinji’s sisters,” he said with as much possible diplomacy. He was a businessman and needed to learn how to think quickly in these situations.

An laughed at Kamio’s answer, “ I’m sure they will but I just wanted to make sure, in case you’d like to cheerlead for Kirihara-kun.”

“NO!”

Why was he yelling at An-chan? One should never yell at An-chan.

The smile he plastered quickly onto his face wavered, tipping into a barely controlled wince. “Would...not like. Besides, it would have the opposite effect. One look at me and Akaya would be laughing too hard to play.”

An continued to laugh for a few more moments before waving him off, “ You’re probably right he’d blame us for losing.”

Calming down she looked back into her closer and squinted before ducking her hand into the back and pulling out some black, “Oh I forgot that I had my junior highschool uniform in here...I wonder if it fits.”

Kamio held his breath for a minute, but the longer An-chan laughed, the more the tension in his form seemed to evaporate. “Why wouldn’t it?” he said, quite oblivious as he took out his phone for a fun playlist. What was cleaning without music? Or anything without music, for that matter? “I mean, you didn’t get that much taller.”

For all of his talk, when he looked up from his selection and saw the uniform, it brought back all kinds of feelings that may or may not have frozen his face.

She eyed him for a moment letting out a pensive sound, “You’re right I didn’t.. Kippei stole all my height away from me.” She puffed a cheek out half annoyed before placing her the uniform on the bed. “I wonder if I should keep it, maybe I could use it for spying someday, if I play my cards right people will still think im 13 with my height.”

Laughing softly at her annoyance, Kamio set one of his more upbeat dance playlists and put his phone face down to amplify the sound. “Do you have any thirteen year olds that you want to spy on?” he asked incredulously. Since An seemed to need another minute with her closet, Kamio peered around for something to lay his hands on. “Anything you want me to do, or bring around to the car? I don’t know when Tachibana-san is gonna be home and I don’t want your dad to have to do it.”

It was good to hear some music and An smiled at the song. Turning back to Kamio she put a shirt into another bag with a shake of her head, “No, not exactly but you never know.” She didn't exactly have any ways of using it at the moment but a bit of nostalgia made her not want to give it away.

Looking to the bookshelf she then looked back to the red head. “You want to start putting the books on my shelf into the box? Im taking the whole thing with me. “ Her box shelf didn’t have very much at the beginning of last year but once she started her part time job she started finding a few books that she was interested in.

Entirely unconsciously, Kamio started to move with the music, shoulders swaying and feet shifting as he peered at the uniform, then did a full spin over to the bookshelf. “You’ll be the first person on my mind if I ever wanna spy on a bunch of kids,” he said as he applied his torrent of energy to seeing the books neatly into one of the boxes a few at a time. “Are you taking the shelf, too?”

The music was a nice addition to their work as she looked over to see Kamio’s Antics, They made her smile, “ I have to. If not I’ll have nowhere to put them and with just have to use the books and make a book fort. Or maybe a table.”

She swayed to the song once before bumping into Kamio’s side, “ You know I could use it to spy on other adults right?”

“You could pile them up and put something atop them for a table, but the shelf is probably better,” he said, deft fingers reaching around to twist at the screws keeping the bookcase together. If they took it apart first, it would be easier to bring in the car. Kamio managed to take off one shelf before An-chan danced into him, earning a conspiratorial grin.

“Do I want to know what you have in mind?” he asked, giving her a gentle bump back and, as the momentum pushed her slightly away, offered a hand out.

“Yeah, I’ll probably topple them over in two seconds.” An said with an approving nod as she placed a few more articles of clothes into the bag.

There was a glint in her eye as she grinned at Kamio’s playfulness, “I’m not sure if you’d want to know my secret evil plans.” They were so secret that even she didn’t know of them. Eyeing his hand she took it and swayed back in, “ I’ve only told Gokutora.”

Kamio pulled An closer into his arms, only to twirl her back out again with infectious flare. “So if Gokutora is your evil sidekick, am I your getaway man?” he asked. The shelf could wait; he was enjoying their goofy narrative and dance too much to not play along.

She followed suit with a laugh before twirling back into him and winking up at him. “Of course, wouldn’t have it any other way. You’re fast enough that we’ll make it out.”

He caught that wink and smiled down at An. All warmth and whimsy, Kamio dipped the criminal mastermind with the right hitch in the song and asked, “And when we make it out, then what?”l

At the dip she pushed out a slippered foot for balance, “Enjoy our spoils.” If gokutora was involved there would have to be at least some kibble.

“Yeah, okay,” Kamio said, admiring how graceful An-chan was this way, too. He helped her up, but kept a hand at her back as he whirled into a two step. Smile wide enough to crinkle his almond eyes at the corners, Kamio said, “You haven’t clarified what our spoils are, yet, An-sama.”

While An wasn’t the greatest of dancers she could at least keep up with Kamio as he switched positions, “ Hmm...a few thousand chocolate coins.” She said as she placed her hand on his shoulder and tilted her head looking Kamio over. “and maybe some spinach for you.” That sounded about right.

As Kamio lead An-chan through the simple dance, he bunched his lips and tilted his head quizzically, an expression at odds with his graceful movements. “Are we robbing a grocery store right before White Day?”

What place would have both? He couldn’t imagine that they held that many chocolate coins at a regular time. Although chocolate coins weren’t a terribly popular gift anyway.

As much as An tried to continue her little story she couldn’t help but laugh especially when Kamio looked so perplexed., “ Yeah maybe, I have to get some dog food for Gokutora it wouldn't be fair otherwise.”

Stepping closer once she took took a step back and let go of Kamio as the song had ended. Those a nice few moments of procrastination but boxes didn’t fill themselves. “I wonder how many supermarkets sell chocolate coins as whites day gift.” They were a rather juvenile gift but An did find them to be pretty tasty.

“Well...he’s a hardworking sidekick,” at least if labor were measured in drool.

Sheepish and forgetting what he was meant to be doing with his hands, Kamio scratched his head and grinned tentatively. “You’re right, they’re probably more popular on Children’s Day or something.” He bounced on on his heels a bit, pumping himself up to complete the disassembly of An’s shelf.

An gave him a playful wink,, “He tries to be.”

Looking at her closet again she pulled out a stack of jeans and started to place them into a box. Those were certainly being kept. “ Kid’s like shiny things don’t they?” And if they were edible it was even better.

One hand behind the shelf to twist at one of the knuts holding the boards together, Kamio hummed the music still filling the room. “I think so. Most of the kids that I’ve met do. I would just hope they don’t eat the paper--Eep!”

The board came loose on that side and flopped down harmlessly to smack on the other, causing Kamio to start at the noise like a dog hearing a car backfire.

An had actually been startled. More so by Kamio’s sudden yelp than the part of the shelf coming loose. She paused before trying to hold back her laughter, “Are you okay?”

Glaring at the shelf from under his hair, Kamio frowned and then looked at hair, motion quick enough to send his bangs into a little toss. “Your shelf is sneaky,” he accused, reaching around for that second knut to remove the dangling board. “I don’t know if you can trust it to come with you.”

“I didn’t know inanimate objects could be so sneaky.” She said in an amused tone. Shaking her head once, An continued on with her her clothes until she manage to fill a box. “I’ll have to take my chances~My books need to be put on shelves.”

Piece by piece, the rest of the shelf fell to Kamio’s knobbly fingers. He stacked it up carefully beside the book box, in as small a space as possible. “Maybe, just to be careful, you should put a set of Kite-san’s googly eyes on it.”

At the mention of Kite’s obsession, An raised and eyebrow and snorted, “ Yes, that’s the only thing I need is to actually think that the shelf is watching me while I’m changing.” An hadn’t thought much of what she said as she picked up an old coat. This would be good for donation.

Kamio put down the last piece of the shelf and said nonchalantly, “They watch me change all the time. Although I probably change in the hallway more than I change in my room.”

After all, it wasn’t like they were connected to anything. Probably.

An gave him a confused look, “What do you mean you change in the hallway?”

“Like…” Kamio stopped to match her confused look. “So I can leave faster, I change while I run.”

There was a pause as she blinked a few times before she completely laughed out loud. She couldn’t help it, not when she tried picturing it. “You better be careful, You just might trip over your pants.”

Turning more and more red as An-chan laughed, Kamio opened his mouth to protest strongly only to remember.

“...I only did that once.”

Slowly she willed away her laughter when she Kamio’s embarrassment. It was a cute sight but she wouldn’t continue to tease him.

“I’m sure you’ve learned your lesson then. I hope nobody saw something they shouldn’t have.”

Still quite red, Kamio stammered. “My underwear isn’t forbidden!”

He thought about that statement, thin brows knitting together with concern. “I mean, there’s nothing bad about them. Not that I necessarily want people to look at me in my underwear all the time. It’s just…”

Oh my god, he was making it worse.

“....Imgonnabringthisboxdownstairs!” Kamio announced and, a surprising and impressive feat of strength, lifted the entire box of books and brought it out closer to the door.

Picking up a sweater she just smiled back. Kamio was going into over explaining mode and after years of knowing him it was something that she was used to. An could continue to torture the poor boy but he seemed to be torturing himself quite easily. “I get it you-” An started but paused as she watched the redhead pickup the heavy box. “Are you sure you don’t need help?

“No!” Kamio shouted as he moved along. Although his weighed-down footsteps and general clumsiness made a good ruckus, he escorted the books safety to a place both convenient and out of the way. The activity must have helped him calm down, because on return, he immediately started to neatly arrange the pieces of the bookcase to carry to the same location later. They could fit a few more things down over there.

It was strange to think that he wouldn’t be spending as much time at the Tachibana’s home.

Adding another bag to that pile, he asked, “So….How does it feel? Leaving home. Weird?”

At Kamio hurried answer, An could only shake her head suppressing another laugh as she finished piling a few more things from her closet to her bed. Now it was looking much better without the clutter. All she she had to do now was box everything that left.

Grabbing a marker she started to write on a few boxes indicating what each box was. Looking back to Kamio she paused when he spoke to her.

Leaving home? An had only thought about it briefly, “ I mean..I’m not really leaving home? Sure I won’t see my parents everyday and Gokutora but I can always come visit “She finished with a smile, “Plus it’ll be interesting living on my own.” For the most part she was already independent but her Mom did do a lot of the work around the house.

Kamio smiled, “That’s true. It’s very close and easy to visit.”

When An-chan labeled the boxes, Kamio buzzed over the bed, quick to be as helpful as possible. He folded the clothes kind of haphazardly, but his placement in the box was logical enough to avoid complaint. Moving to the rhythm of their background music, he worked to clear the bed and fill the boxes per the marker’s decree.

“Mama is already making a bunch of food for me to take my first week. She said I won't have time to cook with all the unboxing.” An was sure that she was exaggerating.

Grabbing a pair of pants she flung it into a box, “ If she does end up going overboard you should come over for dinner at my new humble abode.” An said with a wink to the red head.

Tucking some shoes away, Kamio frowned, “But you’re not going to have your mother’s home cooking every night anymore. She’s right, you should save that for yourself!”

The Tachibanas were always spoiling him enough

An shrugged, “I mean...Sooner or later I was going to move out anyways so it’s something I’d have to get used to...It’s part of growing up.”

“Yeah, but enjoy it while you have it,” he reiterated. “Although, living alone is going to have some of its own perks.” He saw his family enough to not miss them too much, and got to spend time with Shinji every day. “The community living is pretty nice.”

Kamio creatively attempted to fit more light things into the top of a box, before deciding that it was full and nudging it over to the door. “We should all have a dinner night, though. Maybe nabe?”

“I know...I’ll miss being around but who isn’t to say that I’m back here in a year or two.” An would hope not but she didn’t have any way of knowing that.

Finally her closet was empty. With a smile she closed its doors and finished closing up her last boxes. “I’m excited about meeting a few new people..It’ll be interesting.” There certainly was a few people that living in Mikiya that she already knew but certainly not close with.

An shook her head with a smile as she watched Kamio try to fill up the box.” Nabe sounds perfect. I can try and make an extra delicious one…”There was so many possibilites.Blinking she grinned. We could even invite all the boys. Have a little Fudomine reunion.” That idea made her really happy.

He eyed up the boxes, trying to decide which one was the heaviest, and picked that one up. “Yeah,” Kamio grinned, tossing his hair out of his face with a jerk since his hands were full. “We can have a nice housewarming party,” he promised. “You’ll get to meet new people but never lose your old favorites.”

Because no matter what An was definitely always going to be one of his favorites.

Before grabbing a box for herself, she lifted a hand and brushed some of that stubborn hair out of Kamio’s eyes, her fingers skimming his forehead just slightly. “We wouldn’t want you falling down the stairs now would we?” She said with a teasing smile.

The box she had lifted wasn’t too heavy, “ I’d really like that...So, Mr. Old favorite, any ingredients I should put in that nabe?”

Kamio lips pressed pathologically together, as if they could somehow stop the blush that threatened to clash with his hair. He wasn’t going to fall down the stairs before, but now, after An-chan’s devastatingly soft touch, it was in the realm of possibility.

That wasn’t fair!

“....Spinach...” he answered eventually, following her down the stairs. “And beef.”

Kamio’s blush didn’t escape An’s sight but either way all she did was smile softly as they made there way down stairs. There wasn’t much left to do beside take boxes down and that relieved her at least a little bit.

“Of course, maybe some mushrooms as well.” Speaking of food as An put down her box the sound of clinking caught her attention and the smell of something cooking in a pan. With a grin she looked back to Kamio. “Looks like Mama’s back.”

Although some color still clung to his face, Kamio recovered enough to agree to the suggestions. “Enoki or shiitake?” they were both delicious. It was probably a matter of seeing which one was on sale -- Shinji would enjoy looking into that.

The sound of cooking didn’t escape him either, and he tried to peer through the door around his box. “Should we help her?” he asked, giving up for the present and shuffling after An to set down his heavy box.

An thought for a moment, “How about both?” If they were going to make nabe they might as well make it good.

Trying to peer in like Kamio she tilted her head, “I’m sure Mama is fine but I bet we could set the table.” Her Mom did enjoy cooking by herself when Kippei wasn’t hogging the kitchen. “We can finish up later. We deserve a break anyways.”

Kamio laughed -- a soft bubbling sound that went somewhat against his crash and burn personality. “You only live once, why not?” he could sneakily tell Shinji that he bought them both on sale.

After putting the box down, he returned to An’s side. “Or I can set the table and you can time me. I want to beat my record from last time.” Excited by the prospect, he bounced on his heels.

She grinned, “You’re right. They’re healthy anyways so it’ll be fine.”

Everything was speed with Kamio and it made her shake her head holding back a laugh, “Alright, let’s see if you can do better. I’m sure Mama would like to know.” With that said she made her way into the kitchen.
