Marui wasn't particularly fond of baking in front of people other than his family and maybe Jackal or Akaya, and anyone he felt wouldn't be too judging of the fact that he ate a lot while cooking. It was only when someone in his home economics class back in school pointed out that he was pigging out that he realised yet another bad habit of his.
This time, not only people he knew from back in the day–and didn't trust to keep their judgements to themselves–but also random Basil Gardens residents came along to watch the bake off unfold, eager to try the free desert the two of them were crafting. Marui decided to try something new, in this way, he would have to pay more attention to the recipe rather than stuff his face while working on a cake he could bake blindfolded.
Settling for an 'adult' cake, he went with a Strawberry-Lime Daiquiri Poke Cake, with rum, whipped vanilla frosting and a less fancy decor than he would have liked.
By the time both Marui and An were done baking, the redhead wanted nothing but to try both desserts. He cut slices and handing to whoever was judging first, remembering to save a slice of both his and An's for Akaya, storing away safely behind Kite's veggies so no one would look there.
