 What: An's Birthday BBQ at the beach

When: Saturday afternoon, June 30th
Where: Kugenuma Beach (About an hour train ride from Tokyo)
Rating: Please keep it PG-13

Join in and have some fun! There will be a BBQ set up near the beach and there will be food and drinks. ;) A slip n slide has been set up along with water guns and there is some beach volley ball if anyone feels like playing.


While this is an open log, everyone is free to comment that their characters were there and what they might have done if you find yourself unable to log!

Naturally, as the primary organizer of the party (or an overachiever as what was actually the case), Tachibana couldn't let himself be free of the duty of manning the grills. He had carefully prepared cut up veggies and had on hand many packs of thinly sliced meats so as to feed an army of people, should they show up. He did make sure that the grills were set up with everything someone would need in the event they wanted to jump in and help, but he was more than happy to look after them himself. Grilling on the beach was definitely better than any yakiniku restaurant out there.

He hummed to himself as he turned over the first of the meat and wondered who his first biting fish would be.

After doing his fair share of set up and organizing, Kamio bounded over to Tachibana. "That smells amazing, Tachibana-san." The picky redhead wasn't even politely lying; it did truly smell awesome. "Is there anything you need for grilling? More plates for the ready stuff?"

Tachibana smiled warmly at Kamio and placed a hand on his shoulder briefly before turning back to the grill. It was truly no surprise that Kamio was the first to approach him - there were some things that would never change, even years long after he had been their captain. "That would be excellent - thank you, Akira." The first of the meat was going to be ready to come off any moment; Kamio would certainly be welcome to it should he want to be. "Did you want to be the first to try?"

Before Tachibana could even finish his question, the spry redhead had started off to fetch one of the biggest plates they had for the ready food to rest on. Because, of course, what needed to be done had to be done with the most speed.

"Here's some plates!" he said, still bouncing lightly on his heels on returning to his former captain's side. And because Tachibana's question had chased his sharp ears on the wind, he shook his head vigorously. "You worked hard, you should get the first taste."

As was becoming a strange sort of custom Tezuka settled his contribution - several bottles of nicely chilled beer along with lemonade to mix for a refreshing drink to fit the warm weather - on the end of the table already holding an assortment of refreshments.

He only felt mildly guilty when liberating the first bottle and opening it with practiced ease to take with him on the search for an unobtrusive stretch of beach to occupy for as long as politenes required him to stay and not insult their gracious birthday-lady.

As much as he spent most of his earlier days training under the sun, Yagyuu could wholeheartedly say that it wasn't something he missed. Fanning himself with his hand, he spotted Tezuka setting down several bottles of cold beer. Sure it was the middle of the day, but it was a party and the heat was becoming unbearable by the minute, and all he wanted was a nice drink to cool him down.

He tapped Tezuka on the shoulder. "Ara Tezuka-kun, could you please pass me a bottle?"

Glancing over at Yagyuu Tezuka nodded his assent before reaching for the chilled bottles and snagging one bottle of lemonade as well as a beer bottle and a glass. "It might be prudent to mix these to dilute the alcohol." He suggested, passing everything over to the other brunette. "It's refreshing and fruit is rather sweet."

"I haven't tried that sort of drink yet, but it does sound quite delicious." Yagyuu said, taking the proffered beverages. The bottles were cool to the touch and nearly had him sighing in relief.

After adding half of each bottle to the glass, he took a tentative sip of the fizzy drink, not caring whether or not it actually tasted good. All that mattered was the promise of relief from the blasted heat. "Oh, it is refreshing," he said in surprise. He looked up at Tezuka from his glass and smiled. "Thank you very much, Tezuka-kun, this is quite good."

Thanks to Tachibana-san's kitchen, Shinji had made a three-layer cake for An-chan's birthday. With presents secure in his backpack, he carefully carried the cake towards the food table. Stepping on sand while holding a heavy cake was a precarious situation which was why he went slowly. Eventually, he made it and slid the cake onto an empty spot on the table. After that, he looked for the other presents and added his to the pile of gifts for An-chan.
