Who: Hirakoba Rin and Tokugawa Kazuya
What: Nikki and I try to write a log that's 10 pages instead of our usual 20... and then FEELINGS happen and Tokugawa is completely to blame because he wouldn't give a goodnight kiss Rin drops by Tokugawa's house unexpectedly :|
When: End of June
Where: Tokugawa's place
Rating: R for Rin (it's very PG)

It feels a little weird to be arriving at Tokugawa’s house unannounced rather late at night and without giving him any sort of forewarning. And Hirakoba isn’t normally this rude, he reminds himself as he hops out of the taxi, but he’s a bit desperate and… well, it’s Tokugawa’s fault for having a pool, really. Particularly when Hirakoba’s prone to getting urges to swim late at night, which is normally solved by paddling in the ocean at home, but that isn’t really an option here.

Hirakoba hesitates over ringing the bell at the gate - he’s fairly sure there’s a chance family members will be there too. After all, it’s nighttime and there’s lights on in the house. But it’s a bit too far too head back to his place now and, oh, what a shame, the taxi just pulled away.

Hirakoba adjusts his bag over his shoulder and pulls out his phone. I need a favour from you right now, Tokugawa-kun. It’s very urgent he sends. And then after a pause, follows that message up with a few love hearts.

It's fortunate Tokugawa is just reading in his room and isn't busy with anything else or isn't out with his family or friends because he manages to check his phone pretty quickly. Admittedly, he grows concerned upon reading the message just because of the urgency the message proclaims. It's why his response is just as immediate as how he read it, which is by calling HIrakoba instead of texting him back.

Hirakoba nearly drops his phone when it starts ringing and that’s certainly unexpected. And… kind of sweet, he supposes? “Hello darling,” he says as he picks up. “I’m outside your house, I really need to see you right now. Can you come down?”

Tokugawa's no-nonsense attitude immediately sounds some alarms, but they're quickly dispelled when he thinks that there must be a good reason why Hirakoba is outside. "Alright. I'll be down soon," he says before dropping the call. He doesn't even say goodbye!

But at least he's at the gate in less than a minute in a shirt and long shorts. (At least he isn't wearing pyjamas yet.)

"Hirakoba." That's it. That's his greeting. He's clearly very welcoming.

Hirakoba doesn’t wait long at all and he’s not fully prepared when the gate opens. That was a very fast descent down the stairs, apparently. “Tokugawa-kun, hello,” he says, giving him his best smile anyway, skipping forward to give Tokugawa a quick hug.

“I really need to use your pool,” he says, as if that’s something of an explanation (it’s not). “Just for a little bit.”

Hirakoba gets Tokugawa's staple pat on the back for the hug. Yay.

Also, that's not an explanation at all. It only poses more questions, but Tokugawa makes way for Hirakoba to enter his residence, anyway.

"... Why?" he finally asks, then he looks up at one of the windows which happen to be on. His parents are still awake. Not that this can't be explained, and it's not like they'll get mad at Tokugawa, but it's just a surprise.

Hirakoba knows the way to the pool, as, besides from Tokugawa’s extremely comfortable bed and secretive stash of magazines, it’s by far the best part about his house from the last visit. He rather cheerfully heads towards it, since apparently being let into his house equals Tokugawa giving Hirakoba permission to swim.

“It’s a way of dealing with stress,” he says, shrugging a bit. “A bath just isn’t satisfying enough at a certain point and none of the pools are open.” And as confident of a swimmer as he is, Hirakoba’s not quite desperate enough to go travelling to the ocean here by himself.

Tokugawa follows, checking the clock that they pass by towards the pool. It is pretty late so there really aren't any public pools open anymore.

"Did something happen?" Another question that Tokugawa wants a specific answer to. If Hirakoba is stressed, then maybe he can help out in some way? Aside from letting the boy swim in the pool, anyway.

Hirakoba glances at Tokugawa and just shrugs at the question. He’s not really the sort of share his actual stresses with people, or really show that he’s particularly stressed.

“Just things compounding together,” he says finally, when they reach the pool and Hirakoba drops his bag. “Classes, life, family, the usual things.” And that’s pretty much all the detail that he’s going to go into. “So, thank you for letting me in, Tokugawa-kun.”

That's not specific at all, but it doesn't seem like Hirakoba will spill the details. Admittedly, Tokugawa feels a bit disappointed that he can't be trusted with a friend's worries, but he decides to keep it inside.

"If you're going to swim, just go ahead and do so. I'll go upstairs and let my parents know I have someone over."

“Oh, thank you,” Hirakoba says and he’s rather quick to strip off his jacket and top, tossing them on top of his bag. And then he pauses, partway through undoing his pants and Hirakoba looks at Tokugawa. “If you could get me a towel on the way back too, that would be lovely,” he says.

Hirakoba really doesn’t have any shame in getting changed into his swimsuit out in the open, particularly if he keeps his back to the house and he’s rather fast about it. At least he isn’t skinny dipping, although the thought did cross his mind - maybe next time, if he knows Tokugawa’s parents aren’t home. And then it’s just a matter of hopping into the pool and going to sink to the bottom for a while.

Please don't skinny dip in the Tokugawa pool right now, Rin…

Tokugawa's only gone for about five minutes, coming back with a towel. Explaining to his parents that a friend suddenly came over and wanted to swim was seemingly easy. It's not like his friend is doing anything illegal or anything, so they just agreed and allowed it right away. He also drops by his sister's room to tell her not to go to his room later or anything since he has a friend over. (She'll only bother them and he potentially could get embarrassed by her later on.) If Hirakoba is yet to resurface, then he'll just wait as he wades his feet in the water.

By the time Tokugawa comes back, Hirakoba’s floating on his back, looking up at the sky. He just feels so much better already, able to stretch out in the water and swim a bit from one end to the other.

He dives back under as Tokugawa appears and resurfaces nearby. Hirakoba pushes his long hair out of his face - next time, he needs to tie it up, he tells himself - and smiles up at Tokugawa. “Is there any chance I can convince you to come swimming with me?” he asks, touching his wet fingertips to Tokugawa’s calf.

This could be Tokugawa's moment to be selfish and put forth a condition: he will swim if Hirakoba gives the specifics on what's stressing him out, seeing as it sounds like there's a lot. But the thing is, he isn't selfish and there's no part of him that could ever be.

"I'm not dressed. It's also cold." He's fine with his feet in the pool but that's it.

“You could always swim in your clothes,” Hirakoba points out, resting his elbows on the edge of the pool and looking up at Tokugawa. It’s a slightly awkward angle, but it’s fine. “Or naked, I wouldn’t mind that either.”

And it’s a little cold, at least with his shoulders and arms out of the water, but the water itself isn’t too bad. “What if I promise not to snoop through your magazines this time? Will you swim with me then?” Or at least Tokugawa could sit down so he’s easier to talk to.

"I'm not swimming with these clothes on," Tokugawa begins before he sits down. Then, he narrows his eyes and Hirakoba will be able to witness that famous glare of Tokugawa that could freeze a man. "I'm also not swimming naked."

Hirakoba just smiles cheerfully enough back at Tokugawa at the glare - he feels like he’s gotten worse ones from Kite in his time. And it’s just funny when he knows all too well the blushing and the smiling and the post-kissing faces Tokugawa came pull.

“I think you’d look quite lovely naked,” he says. “And it’s very nice swimming naked, you really should try it.” He’s done it plenty of times himself. But, Tokugawa seems pretty adamant about it. So Hirakoba pushes himself up out of the water with his arms, to press a quick kiss to Tokugawa’s lips. And then it really is easy to just drop back into the water and pull Tokugawa in with him.

There are only so few things that usually shock Tokugawa nowadays. The kiss happens to be one, as well as him being pulled into the water. Everything happens so much! And once he's in thr water, he pulls his arm away from Hirakoba to poke his head out of the water.

He's shivering.

"Hirakoba!"

Hirakoba laughs as Tokugawa surfaces and he reaches out to push the wet hair up out of Tokugawa’s face. “Yes, darling?” he says, looking much too pleased with himself as he floats away a bit. “I recommend taking your clothes off, if you want to enjoy a swim. Swimming in clothes is just unpleasant.”

He’s definitely speaking from experience there.

Tokugawa isn't going to take all of his clothes off, but he at least takes off his shirt and squeezes the water out of it before placing it gingerly at one edge of the pool. Ugh………

"Now you have me here," he says when he finally addresses Hirakoba. He doesn't seem amused, but he's resigned to swimming now.

Hirakoba makes no attempt to hide the fact that he’s looking at Tokugawa quite admiringly as the shirt comes off. “I’ll share my towel with you,” he says, laughing a bit. He hopes Tokugawa’s towels are large and fluffy, although he doubts they’d be anything but that, really.

He rolls onto his back and kicks lightly to float away. “I’d challenge you to another swimming competition, but I don’t really want to lose again…”

Hm. Despite being in a sour mood just a few seconds ago, Tokugawa puffs out a chuckle as he slowly moves around.

"I still want that dessert. It would take a lot to fail at making crepes."

Hirakoba looks a little disbelievingly at Tokugawa and rolls his eyes a bit. “You have ridiculously high expectations of me,” he says, but he sounds fond enough.

“I can make chocolate coated strawberries,” Hirakoba says and he smiles a bit, rolling over to lazily breaststroke away. “I could hand feed them to you, if that by itself isn’t satisfactory for dessert.”

Why can't Tokugawa just have something he wants for once. Crepes are so easy to make!

"That's already a high expectation?" Tokugawa shakes his head, but he's not really disapproving of anything. And instead of continuing to move around, he swims to where the floatie is so he can get up on it and relax there.

“Maybe I’m just worried that if I make you a perfectly cooked meal in my cute apron, you’ll just be so enamoured you’ll propose to me right there and then,” Hirakoba says still lazily breaststroking around with his head above the water.

“And I don’t want to get married until I’m 30, so, I’ll just have to keep disappointing you until then.” Hirakoba laughs and reaches up to poke Tokugawa in the arm. “Maybe you’ll be good enough at hugs then too, you can follow up with that.”

Once on the floatie, Tokugawa fixes his hair. As wet as it is, he still wants it to look nice. It's when he sees his sister peeping through her bedroom window and he feels so fortunate that she didn't see him get pulled into the pool. That would have been a story to tell. He doesn't like it when his sister teases him.

"I'm good with hugs," he says, which sounds like a lie given how he sucks at giving them to Rin. "I just don't hug people my age." Not that he and Rin are the same age-- Tokugawa's a few years older but the point still stands.

Hirakoba treads water next to Tokugawa and smiles up at him. It’d be so easy to just upset the floatie and tip him into the water again… maybe later. “Well, you can keep hugging me, until you get more used to hugging people your own age,” Hirakoba says. “And I’ll keep giving you lessons.”

He pauses and reaches out to prod Tokugawa lightly on the stomach. “But maybe don’t hug other people in the same way that I teach you.” That might be… slightly awkward.

It would not be slightly awkward. It would be incredibly awkward. Besides, "I don't plan to hug a lot of people. It doesn't really matter."

He's picky with who he hugs!

Hirakoba laughs and prods Tokugawa again. “Well, then I’m flattered you hug me.” He says that, as if he’s not the one forcing hugs on Tokugawa and insulting his hugging so that Tokugawa is motivated to actually try and get better.

“Also, a bit relieved. I get jealous easily.” And with that said, Hirakoba tips up the floatie to make Tokugawa fall off it, mostly so he can scramble on top and stretch out himself.

"You force me to hug you." There's a difference and Tokugawa isn't shy in saying it out loud. He's done nothing wrong.

He also tries to fight being tipped over this time. He immediately reaches for Hirakoba's shoulders, scrambling and actually looking slightly frantic. "Hirakoba!" There's more force in his tone now compared to earlier. If he's going down, he's going to take Hirakoba with him.

Well… Tokugawa could always refuse to give him hugs, but Hirakoba would just force them on him anyway. It’s not like they’re bad, and as much as Tokugawa will probably deny it, he’s pretty sure the hugs are enjoyed.

He takes great joy in just upending the floatie and Tokugawa, leaving it to sadly float away to the other end of the pool upside down. It does end up with him being dunked under the water though and he laughs as he resurfaces and makes his way to the edge to hop out and sit on the edge.

These pranks are so not funny… Tokugawa just wanted a quiet night with his book and now he's being disturbed like this. When his head pops back out of the water, he ends up calling Hirakoba's name again and he doesn't sound pleased.

He finds that that's enough now, though, and swims to the stairs so he can climb out of the pool. He needs the towel stat because it's become cold. His knee shouldn't be exposed to the cold that much either, else he'll feel a ton of pain.

"I need to get back inside," he tells the blond.

“Well, I’m feeling much less stressed now, so, I’m done too.” Having a swim and being able to tease Tokugawa has done wonders for Hirakoba. He stands up and shivers a bit in the night air as he grabs the towel, wrapping it around his shoulders like a cape.

It’s a really nice towel too, very fluffy and oversized. Although maybe that’s just because Tokugawa’s family is all… too tall.

“Come here, Tokugawa-kun,” Hirakoba says, holding onto the corners of the towel and opening his arms up. “I said I’d share the towel.”

Tokugawa just wants the towel without getting too close. Who knows what Hirakoba still has up his metaphorical sleeves at this point? It's why he doesn't move from where he is and instead just holds out his hand. Please pass the towel.

Oh, Tokugawa is no fun at all. And it’s funny how quickly he can go from stressed to almost playful, and he’s admittedly a little bit put out that Tokugawa isn’t willing to play along.

“I’ll need you to give me a towel hug, then,” Hirakoba says, hesitating a moment before he tosses the towel at Tokugawa. He’s still wet, but it’s not too bad. At least he can focus on squeezing water out of his hair in the meantime.

Tokugawa narrows his eyes. He's not about to hug Hirakoba outside where his sister can just peek from the window. She already saw him out earlier. Who knows when she'll take a look outside her window again?

"Later." And with the towel finally with him, he dries off his torso and his arms, then moves to his legs. His hair is dripping wet but he doesn't bother drying that bit. Instead, he picks up his terribly wet shirt, squeezes the water out of it and nods towards the house.

"I need to get warm right away."

Later, Tokugawa says. … Well, at least it’s not an absolute refusal. Hirakoba filches the towel from Tokugawa to dry himself off quickly too, draping it over his shoulders to catch the wet ends of his hair.

And then it’s just a matter of quickly picking up all his clothes and shoving them in his bag. “Time for a hot shower, then?” he asks cheerfully. He can already see drips of water coming from the other male’s hair and he prods Tokugawa in the back to catch one, and then two trails of water.

Why does that sound like an invitation to shower together… Tokugawa turns around and walks back inside and then up the stairs. If Hirakoba tails after him, he leads him to the guest room.

"You can shower here."

Clearly it sounds like an invitation because either Tokugawa is thinking it, or because he just always expects the worst from Hirakoba. It’s a bit insulting, actually.

Hirakoba had honestly almost been expecting to be kicked out of the house now that he’s had his swim, not led up to a bathroom. He glances into the nice guest bathroom. “I assume I’m free to use your towels, then?” he asks. Oh, and there’s nice shampoo and conditioner in there too, he can wash his hair properly.

There are definitely toiletries for Hirakoba to use, as well as towels. Even slippers! The Tokugawa household takes care of their visitors.

"Go ahead." And, well, Tokugawa should probably leave Hirakoba to his privacy now, so he takes a few steps back before finally saying "I'll be in my room" and leaving to take a really warm shower himself.

It’s almost tempting to follow Tokugawa back into his room to inspect his bathroom too, but Hirakoba suspects that might be a line crossed. Maybe next time. And it’s not really that big of a sacrifice anyway because the guest bathroom is really nice and he sighs under the spray of hot water, rinsing out his swimsuit and washing his hair.

Hirakoba’s definitely a bath person, but if he has one… he won’t be leaving it for at least an hour. Even so, he does take a pretty long shower and luxuriates in the big fluffy towels and it’s quite a while later that he wanders down the hall to Tokugawa’s room, back in his clothes from before.

He knocks lightly and just catches himself before he calls out - he has no idea which of the closed doors around him are Tokugawa’s parents or… sister?

There's a low "come in" that comes from inside the room that should give Hirakoba his signal that he can enter. Tokugawa can't exactly get up at the moment as he has a hot compress over his injured knee at the moment. Not much pain that it needs to be tended to right away, at least.

"You didn't bring a change of clothes?"

Hirakoba’s eyebrows draw together at the sight of the compress - he thought the knee was getting better…? He shuts the door behind him, dropping his bag in the corner and goes to give Tokugawa a hug.

“I actually just planned to come here for a swim,” he says, sounding amused. “And as awful as I am about rewearing clothes, even I have to say the trip from my place to yours isn’t properly wearing an outfit.”

Injured knees are weak to the cold, that's all! Tokugawa is getting better, but it'll still hurt in the cold every now and then.

The hug is… welcome, but Tokugawa just returns it with a pat on the back. The way he's seated on his bed, a pillow propped up behind him, makes it difficult to properly hug anybody.

"You should have brought a change of clothes." This should be common knowledge between people who want to go for a swim! It's why he sighs, looking a bit tired. "Next time, give me a warning if you plan on coming over."

It’s easy enough to hop onto the bed next to Tokugawa to continue the hug, staying mindful of the knee as he curls up his own legs.

“I’ll remember that for next time,” he says, still amused. Really, at this rate Tokugawa’s just asking for more spontaneous visits with maybe a 10 minute warning. “And I’ll bring a change of clothes when you bring some to my place when you stay over.” Hirakoba prods him in the side.

Even if Hirakoba visited Tokugawa without warning, he would still let the other in, anyway… not inviting Hirakoba in would be such a terrible thing to do.

"... fine." He does not want to sleep in his outside clothes again. Even if he doesn't sound willing to the idea, he considers it a good one so he'll probably start bringing sleepwear with him whenever he goes out with Hirakoba. And as a change in topic, he explains the situation with his knee. "It started to hurt because of the cold. It'll get better soon."

Hirakoba had been feeling fairly pleased about Tokugawa’s agreement to stay over again, but his smile vanishes quickly at the change in topic.

Oh.

He sighs and presses his forehead against Tokugawa’s shoulder. “Now you’re making me feel guilty about pulling you into the pool,” Hirakoba says, sighing again. Although in his defence, the water hadn’t been that cold. Just, refreshing. “I’d offer to try and kiss it better, but,” his face scrunches up a little and he glances down at the knee. “Kissing a knee is a little weird.”

The mental image of Hirakoba kissing his knee is weird. He can't help but grimace as he imagines it… "Don't do that." A please is unsaid, but it's definitely there.

"And don't feel bad. It's not like you knew it would turn out this way. I'm fine."

He relaxes his shoulders then. While this isn't the first time he's gotten this close to Hirakoba, it's still a bit nerve wracking.

Hirakoba laughs and shakes his head. He’s definitely not going to randomly kiss Tokugawa’s knee, though he does stare at it a bit more. “I’ll make sure to keep your old man knee in mind in the future.”

It’s quite nice, just sitting like this, hugging Tokugawa. And the swim and hot shower have made Hirakoba feel… rather calm and sedate. “So what were you doing before I arrived?” he asks, starting to trace swirling patterns with his fingertips against Tokugawa’s side without really noticing. “Were you being a hermit?”

As usual comes the denial. "I'm not a hermit. I was reading a book." Tokugawa doesn't mean any harm but he swats Hirakoba's hand away. Despite there being fabric between his skin and Hirakoba's fingertips, it still tickles a little. The hug is fine, though. Hopefully Hirakoba locked the door before joining him in his bed.

Hirakoba makes a sad noise at the hand slapping and he makes his hands lie still on Tokugawa’s side. “In bed? I’m surprised you were in clothes when I came over, then.” Surely book reading at night is best done curled up in comfortable clothes (or no clothes) in bed?

He prods Tokugawa in the side and then makes himself keep his hands still again. “How opposed would you be if I insisted on staying over for the night, Tokugawa-kun?”

It's true that it could have been more comfortable for Tokugawa if he read while in his pyjamas, but he hadn't changed yet from his usual clothes so he could stay awake. He doesn't make a comment about this, though, not wanting to further the discussion about whether or not he wears clothes in his bed. Instead, he just responds to the question.

"You can stay in the guest room."

That’s a bit offensive and Hirakoba frowns openly, and his hug becomes a bit more limp than normal.

“But your bed is much more comfortable,” he complains. He hasn’t actually tried the guest bed, and if he’s honest he really has no interest in trying it out either. “I don’t take up that much room in a bed. And I will try not to grope you in this morning.”

It's not about the groping or the fact that there's no space. There's a lot of space! And, okay, maybe the groping is a bit of an issue, but Tokugawa would not rather have his parents or his sister wondering why someone visited Tokugawa late at night and slept over in his room. This isn't a tryst.

Tokugawa shifts in his seat, merely glancing at Hirakoba before looking back at the television screen before him that isn't even switched on. "If you sleep here, you'll have to move to the guest room once the sun is up." At least give him this, Hirakoba.

... Once the sun rises is… very early, and actually an unpleasant thought. But at least he can apparently just climb into another bed and go back to sleep for a while longer.

“You’ll have to wake me up then,” Hirakoba says. And he can’t make any promises that he’ll be a functioning human being at that hour. “And lend me something to sleep in, unless you’re okay with me being naked.” Because he is definitely not sleeping in jeans.

What would he even lend Hirakoba? Tokugawa's eyes narrow when he looks at the other, finding the request a bit too demanding. He really should have brought a change of clothes with him.

He takes the hot compress and puts it on his bedside table. It isn't hot now anymore, anyway. Then he pushes himself up so he can look for something in his closet that he can lend Hirakoba. His clothes are definitely going to be too big for the blond, but… eh. He picks out a random white shirt and a random pair of lounge pants before lobbing them at the direction of his bed.

"Those should suffice."

Hirakoba just flops down onto Tokugawa’s bed as he watches the rifling through the wardrobe, enjoying the kind of perfect mattress.

“Thank you, darling,” Hirakoba says, reluctantly sitting up and oh whatever, he can’t even bring himself to pretend to be modest and turn his back to Tokugawa to get undressed. Especially given that he’d stripped at the pool easily enough. Hirakoba pauses partway through pulling on the shirt.

“I probably should have asked this earlier - does nudity bother you, Tokugawa-kun?”

Hirakoba should really have asked it earlier, because Tokugawa was supposed to walk back to his bed but immediately stops what he was doing so he could turn away. If Hirakoba's going to change then he has no intention of watching. He might be comfortable with the hugs and the cuddling and whatever else, but this is something else.

"A little," he says, folding his arms across his chest. There's not really much he can say about it now, though. "Do it in the bathroom next time."

Hirakoba at least scoots off the bed to take off his pants, folding them up neatly before he pulls on Tokugawa’s loaned ones. Which is… hilarious as he steps on the end of the legs. Tall people are annoying.

“What do you do in public baths, then? Or do you just not go?” Hirakoba ties the waist tie up and inspects the lounge pants - very nice, as expected. “You can turn around now, by the way. I’m fully clothed.”

He just needs to roll up the pant legs a bit.

"Public baths are different." Hirakoba, please. Just because people are naked in public baths doesn't make it okay in a private context! But, whatever. Tokugawa's not going to state his full argument. He'll just keep it at that, especially when he sees Hirakoba wearing his pants which are way too long for him.

He walks to the other side of his bed to check just how long it is, and he's unable to hide the smile on his face. Also? He ends up snickering a little, but he covers it up quickly enough by clearing his throat and by putting his balled hand over his mouth.

Hirakoba raises an eyebrow as Tokugawa rounds the bed and that quickly turns into a frown at the laughter. Well, the Tokugawa version of laughter, which means it’s particularly bad.

And it really doesn’t take much to figure out what he’s laughing at.

“I happen to think I look quite good right now,” Hirakoba says, tilting his chin up and almost daring Tokugawa to say anything contrary to that. “Maybe I should just keep borrowing your clothes every time I stay over from now on.”

Tokugawa just shakes his head and moves back to his side of the bed to sit back down. He's done looking and Hirakoba looks ridiculous. Maybe he should have given him a pair of shorts, instead. Oh well.

"You're not borrowing my clothes again. They're too big for you."

Hirakoba fluffs a bit as Tokugawa walks away. “Perhaps you’re just too big, Tokugawa-kun. I’m average height, thank you very much,” Hirakoba says, making sure the pant legs are securely rolled up one last time before he hops onto the bed again.

And of course, moves to hug Tokugawa again, draping his legs over the other’s lap now that there’s no hot compress to worry about. “But, it’s one of the reasons I like you so much, so, I suppose I can’t complain.”

Too much.

Tokugawa remains silent for a good few moments, mulling everything over. In the end, he decides that he should just go to sleep because Hirakoba's words are turning him hopeful even though he knows he's misinterpreting things.

"I'm going to bed now."

Well that's a polite rejection. Hirakoba laughs and gives Tokugawa a kiss on the cheek before he pulls away, settling down onto one side of the bed.

The blankets are nice and plush too and Hirakoba feels like he's just snuggled into a cloud. How nice.

“You should stop being so shy, Tokugawa-kun,” Hirakoba says, turning to look at him. “But I suppose that's part of your charm too.”

At this point, Tokugawa's not sure what it is he should be shy about. He's let his feelings out in the open! He's totally not shy anymore. He just has a very taciturn nature.

"I'm not being shy," he says, then pauses to dim the lights with the panel on the wall. "Good night, Hirakoba."

Hirakoba pokes his head out from under the blankets long enough to inspect the light panel before he burrows back under again. And snuggles up to Tokugawa in the process, draping one arm over him to stay close.

“Goodnight, Tokugawa-kun,” he says. But even with how calm and happy he might be now, it’s still difficult to get to sleep and he pokes his head out from under the covers a few minutes into the silence. Hirakoba props himself up on one elbow and pokes Tokugawa lightly on the cheek. “Tokugawa-kun, I have a question.”

Despite having said good night already, Tokugawa's finding it difficult to go to sleep next to Hirakoba like this. He tries his best to relax, though, and as soon as he manages to forget about his stresses, Hirakoba goes to poke him on the cheek and he's tense once more.

"... What is it." He doesn't even deliver it as a question. Just tell him what you want and go to bed, Hirakoba!

Hirakoba pets Tokugawa fondly on the cheek, trailing his fingertips down his jawline. He wonders if, similar to having a few drinks, Tokugawa also lets his guard down when he’s falling asleep.

“Normally I dump people after confessions, so I never get to ask. Why do you like me, darling?” Hirakoba’s honestly pondered over his more than he’s willing to admit. He huffs a quiet laugh as he taps his fingers against Tokugawa’s bottom lip. “I’m very curious, I don’t think I’m a very likeable person.”

Tokugawa lets out a grunt before he rolls over to his side, back facing Hirakoba. Then, he lets out a soft snoring sound. He's still awake, but he definitely has no intention of answering that yet. He'll just ignore him as long as he can.

Tokugawa’s definitely faking it and that just makes him want to know the answer even more. Hirakoba narrows his eyes and leans over Tokugawa’s back and shoulder to place a kiss to his ear.

“Stop pretending, Kazuya-kun. Answer my question.”

Tokugawa visibly shudders, shoulders tensing up after shivering a little. He groans before pulling the blankets up his face to cover his entire body.

"Go to bed, Hirakoba. You'll need to get up early." So he can move rooms, he means.

This is just a challenge now. Hirakoba settles down so he’s resting his chin on Tokugawa’s shoulder and looks down at the hair still poking above the blankets.

“I can start, if you’re shy about it,” he says. And Hirakoba doesn’t give Tokugawa time to reply before he starts. “I rather like you, because you’re tall and have a nice face, and you look so cute when you blush…” Hirakoba trails off and looks expectantly at the blankets.

There's another groan from Tokugawa. Hirakoba really is persistent, isn't he? And he can already tell that this pestering won't stop unless an answer is given.

"It's just nice being around you," the raven haired boy finally says. "That's all I will say." And he hopes Hirakoba gives up after that.

That’s really… not much of an answer. But Hirakoba does wait patiently to see if Tokugawa will be any more forthcoming and… of course he’s not. “I suppose I can accept that.” And he’ll prod for more details later.

Hirakoba pulls back to blankets a bit to poke him on the cheek. “Kazuya-kun, if you give me a goodnight kiss, I’ll stop embarrassing you for the night,” Hirakoba says, shifting to look at him a little more.

The night's already ending, Tokugawa tells himself. He sincerely believes that Hirakoba won't really do anything or ask anything from him anymore even if he doesn't comply and give a good night kiss, anyway. And maybe he's being pessimistic but he would rather not kiss Hirakoba just because it's for fun or because it's a good night kiss or anything-- he'd much prefer it had meaning.

"It's not like there's anything else you can use against me, Hirakoba. Go to sleep." Hah! There! Tokugawa is also bluffing. Hard.

“I could always stick a hand down your pants…” Hirakoba says, consideringly and he can already hear the firm ’Don’t’ he’ll undoubtedly get in reply. It makes him laugh a bit.

“Come on darling, you’ve gotten me addicted to them now. It would be very unkind of you to stop now.” He drapes himself over Tokugawa so their faces are close. “It’s not as enjoyable when I have to initiate it myself.”

A "Don't" does escape Tokugawa's lips before he frowns and buries himself further under his sheets. There's a follow-up, though. "That's not that embarrassing, anyway."

Because, really.

"Go to bed."

That pulls Hirakoba up short and he blinks in surprise before he runs his fingers through Tokugawa’s hair. “Really? You’re always surprising me, Tokugawa-kun.”

He does have other questions he’d like to ask about that but… he can do that later. Right now, the more pressing issue is the lack of goodnight kiss.

“I’ve told you what I want before I’ll go to sleep,” he says stubbornly, petting Tokugawa’s hair some more. “Or you can give me a good reason why not, and I might let you off.”

"You don't need a kiss before going to sleep." Just do it. And Tokugawa feels like he doesn't need to explain. None of this is real, anyway. He could say some other things like how Hirakoba can call one of his former dates for the kiss or whatever, but that would be such a rude response. Tokugawa might be a jerk but he has values when it comes to this.

Hirakoba huffs and pulls back the blankets to press a kiss to Tokugawa’s cheek. “Fine, not a goodnight kiss, then.” Since apparently he doesn’t need those. Which is a ridiculous idea, given that he’s sharing a bed with someone.

It’s awkward to hover over Tokugawa like this, but Hirakoba uses a hand on the bed to keep himself steady. “What about just a normal kiss, then? Because I’m rather fond of you and your kisses.”

Nnghh… it doesn't seem like Hirakoba will ever let this go. Tokugawa twists so he can face the ceiling, and he opens his eyes again.

"That's not a good enough reason," he says. Now it's Tokugawa's turn with the questions. "Why do you want me to kiss you? And being fond of me isn't a good enough answer." Mostly because he believes it's not true.

Hirakoba settles down, half on Tokugawa’s chest to keep looking at him, and frowns slightly at his question. “I’ve never really had to think of a reason before…” he says, looking at Tokugawa’s ear and trying to think.

“Why can’t I just say, I really enjoy kissing you? More than a lot of other people, actually. So I really want to do it again.”

Tokugawa slides away from Hirakoba, sitting up with the blankets covering the lower half of his body. There's a clicking sound when the lampshade by his nightstand is switched on, and then he puts on his eye glasses: thick rims at the top and frameless everywhere else. He just can't see properly without his contacts on and he would prefer to see Hirakoba's face when he responds.

"Because that's not enough for me," Tokugawa finally says after moments of silence. His tone is quiet, contemplative, but in no way blaming Hirakoba for anything. "I already told you I like you. I don't want my emotions to get played with." To him, kissing is definitely something emotional. He only kissed Hirakoba then because he was feeling rather loose then. He's thought about this some now, and he's made his decision.

Hirakoba sits up reluctantly too, tucking his legs under him and stares as Tokugawa puts on glasses. And this is just rather unfair now.

His expression shutters as Tokugawa talks and Hirakoba clenches his fingers in the blankets. There’s a long silence before he speaks. “My family is… I can’t—“ It’s one of the rare times when Hirakoba finds words difficult and he just sounds and looks like he’s eaten something bitter. “Normally I just dump people when they tell me they like me,” he says finally, his eyebrows drawing together and he stares hard at Tokugawa’s lap. “But I don’t want to do that with you.”

You wouldn't want Tokugawa to look at you cross-eyed now, would you, Hirakoba?

He feels tense now. The atmosphere doesn't grow any lighter, especially with what Tokugawa says next. "I am fine with being friends." That is what he feels is all they are, anyway. Despite Hirakoba's response, he doesn't feel convinced. Or perhaps he just doesn't want to be convinced. "I just won't kiss you again. It requires more than want out of me."

Emotions -- those are involved, too. On the other hand, Hirakoba has other people he can kiss. He is easily replaced, and he doesn't mind.

Eventually, Tokugawa sighs. Even this is too heavy for him. "Don't look so glum," he says, before finally giving Hirakoba the space to speak.

It isn’t very often that Hirakoba’s rejected and it makes him laugh a little, particularly with Tokugawa’s really crappy attempt at getting him to cheer up.

He scoots across the bed to wrap his arms around Tokugawa and pull him into a hug, snuggling quite happily into his shoulder. “Can you give me some time? To… figure things out. Because I’ve kissed friends before as well, as I didn’t enjoy it as much as with you.” He has a vague suspicion that he enjoys kissing Tokugawa because… he’s attractive as well? “Don’t go falling in love with someone else before then, please.”

What's even crappier is Tokugawa's attempt at a one-armed hug. It's more like he just places a hand on Hirakoba's shoulder out of consolation. He's not really sure how to respond to what sounds like a plea -- to not fall in love with somebody else. It's why he swallows thicky. He's not even in love with Hirakoba. He just likes him more than a friend. And he doubts he would fall in love with somebody so easily, anyway.

With a pat on Hirakoba's shoulder, he lets go. That was short-lived.

"I'm a hermit, remember." Perhaps it should be posed as a question, but he says it so deadpanly as possible.

Hirakoba laughs - the hug and the statement are both so bad. “I think I need to give you more lessons at hugging…” he says, more to himself than to Tokugawa and he shakes his head.

“Some other nice, social person might decide to take you out drinking and find out how cute you are when you smile,” Hirakoba says, shifting up to press a soft, undemanding kiss to Tokugawa’s cheek. “And I’ll get jealous and you’ll just have to go on at least two dates with me to make up for it.” It just isn’t worth it, Tokugawa

Oh no… that's stupidly amusing. Tokugawa tries to hide his smile by biting his lower lip, but the more impossible it seems to be, he opts to remove his glasses, put it back on his nightstand and switch the lights back off. At least this way, Hirakoba may not be able to tell that that was cute. They have to stop this now or else he won't know what to do.

"I'm going to sleep now," he says, still sitting up. Still not making a move of going back into his sheets.

Hirakoba gives Tokugawa one last kiss on the cheek - that’s the goodnight kiss - before he withdraws from the hug. And then he moves back to his own side of the bed to lie down, waiting for Tokugawa to lie down too so he can snuggle up close. “I can’t believe I’m accepting your ‘I like you’ as a reason to not kiss,” he says, sounding a little disbelieving of himself. “Next thing I know, it’ll be ‘I won’t have sex because I want to save it for our wedding night’ or something ridiculous like that.”

Even Tokugawa scoffs at the idea of the latter, and it's only heard, not seen. When he sinks into his sheets, resting his head on his pillow, he finally closes his eyes and relaxes.

"Good night, Hirakoba." He's not even going to respond to all that, lest he wants Hirakoba to have more ammo for teasing.

Hirakoba moves closer to cuddle up to Tokugawa’s side, huffing a bit as he settles down comfortably. “Goodnight, Tokugawa-kun,” he says, shutting his eyes and determinedly ignoring the churning in his stomach. He hates confessions. And he really hates this one the most, he decides. “Remember, you have to wake me up in the morning.”
